Report From 1/25/08 Meeting:
FAME hosted its first regular membership meeting of the new year on Friday, January 25th. Professionals in advanced manufacturing from approximately 32 different companies attended this meeting. The feature presentation was a panel discussion with Workforce Educators from Alfred State College, Finger Lakes Community College, Monroe Community College, Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES and Palmyra Macedon School. (Here are the presentations from Alfred State College, Finger Lakes Community College and Monroe Community College)
Our Hiring and Training Committees have merged in to one group. Ron Golumbeck, VP Human Resources at ITT leads this team. There are many exciting plans developing with this committee. Their mission is lead initiatives that will increase FAME employer’s talent pool and facilitate the selection of qualified employees and to design and offer training/education to help workers enter the industry qualified and dedicated! Please click here for updates.
Our Image and Pipeline Committee is running gung-ho! This team, run by Tim Witter, VP of Operations at Gorbel, has many activities going on. They are developing a brochure to market FAME; they are developing profiles on local advanced manufacturing companies to name a few activities. And they are truly after their goal to “SPARK INTEREST in youth towards a manufacturing career and IMPROVE IMAGE of advanced manufacturing careers and lifestyles.” Please click here for updates.
And remember, we have two network groups that meet monthly. One is our Executive Leadership group. They have been meeting at the Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua. The other is our Human Resources group. These meeting have been rotating to different advanced manufacturing companies in our four-county region (Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates). Please see our calendar for more information on these meetings.
