FAME Annual Event – January 27, 2017

Every January, the Finger Lakes Advanced Manufacturers’ Enterprise (FAME) holds its annual meeting. This event hosts hundreds of educators and industry professionals at Monroe Community College for a two-hour event (4pm-6pm). The event features information about the advanced manufacturing industry, education opportunities for students, awards, a panel discussion, and a keynote speaker.

Healthcare and Human Services Job Fair – March 3, 2017

This career fair is a joint effort by FLCC and the FLWIB. The event is held at FLCC’s Main Campus in Canandaigua (Stage 14) from 12pm-3pm on Thursday, March 3, 2016. There will be healthcare and human services employers recruiting for open positions, as well as educational institutions with training and degree programs in the industry.

Serving Community Healthcare in the Finger Lakes Career Day – March 23, 2017

This career day is for Finger Lakes area high school students, specifically in grades 9th and 10th, who are interested in gaining more knowledge and hands-on experience in different healthcare and human services careers. The students arrive at FLCC’s Main Campus in Canandaigua around 8:30am and attend 5-10 presentations on various careers and educational opportunities in the healthcare industry. The students are also able to attend an exhibitor fair where they can talk with area employers and educators about the industry. Students are provided with breakfast and lunch. Students depart around 1pm with a greater understanding and excitement for local careers in the healthcare and human services industry.

The Finger Lakes Job Fair – April 19, 2017

The Finger Lakes (FLX) Job Fair, previously known as the “Why I Love the Finger Lakes Career Expo”, is more than just your typical job fair. Not only are there employers looking to hire, community organizations doing outreach, and educational institutions providing information on their training and degree programs, there are also workshops, a professional head-shot booth, and prizes. This event is hosted at FLCC’s Main Campus in Canandaigua from 1pm-4pm, with workshops beginning at 10:30am.

Building the Agricultural Intellect of Finger Lakes Youth – April 26, 2017

This is the first annual Agricultural Career Day for Finger Lakes area high school students. The event will be held at three locations, which students will be bused to and from throughout the day. The Spring Hope Dairy Farm in Hopewell, the FLCC Viticulture Center in Geneva, and the NYS Experiment Station, are the three locations the students will visit throughout the day. Students will arrive at one of these three locations starting around 8:15am and will end their day around 1pm. Students will be exposed to various educational and employment opportunities in the agriculture industry from professionals. Students will be provided with lunch and snacks.

“Finger Lakes Works…with their hands!” Career Exploration Event – October 5, 2017

This event is the annual Skilled Trades and Advanced Manufacturing career exploration event held at Rodman Lott & Son Farms in Fayette/Seneca Falls, NY. Every year for the past 10 years, several hundred students and school personnel from all area high schools and BOCES districts attend this exciting event. More than 50 businesses, trade unions, colleges and organizations will provide hands on demonstrations and activities for the students including welding, pole climbing, nail driving competitions, engineering skills, bricklaying, electrical wiring, the actual operation of heavy equipment and much, much MORE! In addition to Careers in Construction and Skilled Trades, students can learn about Advanced Manufacturing and Alternative Energy. Demonstrations on the importance of working safely in a construction environment are also included in the day. All participants enjoy a science show entitled ‘Physics is Phun!’ Students can participate in a variety of Skilled Trades challenges for the opportunity to win one of 5, $50 Gift Cards. Both the exhibitors and the students have always indicated that this is a great way to learn more about career and educational opportunities in our Finger Lakes area.
