ONTARIO COUNTY VETERANS SERVICE AGENCY!
GENEVA, NEW YORK – The Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board Inc. (FLWIB) announced today that Ontario County Veterans Service Agency is November’s “Community Partner of the Month” recognizing their efforts in working collaboratively with Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board to address workforce issues impacting the region.
The Veterans Service Agency assists Ontario County’s veterans and their families to identify and apply for benefits, in which they are entitled to from local, state, and federal agencies as a result of their military service. These services can include assistance with filing claims for benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), enrolling in VA healthcare, determining VA home loan eligibility, obtaining education benefits, and burial assistance.
The agency’s Director, Jeremy M. Marshall, has played an instrumental role in the FLWIB Veteran’s Services Committee since it began in 2014. During this time Jeremy has spearheaded efforts to heighten awareness of all the career services available for veterans through Finger Lakes Works. Additionally, he has work to educate employers regarding the value of hiring veterans. Jeremy has gone so far as to bring local employers to Fort Drum in an effort to reach out to veterans from outside the area in an effort to assist business in recruiting talent.
